Meeting summaries

22 January 2026

The Traffic & Transport Working Group submitted its report to the January 22nd Steering Group meeting. This was very well received by all present. Minor modifications and additions were suggested, and these were completed prior to the Steering Group meeting of 5th February where approval for publication following proofreading was given. The Draft Consultation Report was subsequently published on the Sunningwell Parish Council website on 17 February 2026.Natural Environment, Biodiversity and Wildlife

12 January 2026

The first 2026 face-to-face meeting of the Traffic & Transport Working Group was in Bayworth Chapel Hall on 12thJanuary.

The Traffic & Transport Working Group had already been working closely with the Planning Working Group as there is overlap on some of the topic areas, and both groups share very similar challenges from the developments adjacent to Sunningwell, to the extent that they had shared the same map for the presentation at the Steering Group meeting in December in the Village Hall.

Consequently, it was decided to invite the Planning Group to attend the Traffic & Transport WG meeting, and vice versa.

Before the meeting, drafts of the Traffic WG report had been circulated for comment and revision, and this was further discussed. It was agreed that, with edits, it was sufficiently well progressed to be submitted as a draft to the Steering Group by the end of this week.

At least three sets of Traffic questions to pose to the parish had also been generated, and it was agreed to send all of these to the Steering Group for consideration for inclusion in the wider questionnaire.

16 and 25 November 2025

The Traffic & Transport Working Group met at Long Furlong House on 16th November with a follow-up in the same location on 25th November 2025 and presented its progress at the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group Meeting on 9thDecember in Sunningwell Village Hall.

The Group is conducting a survey of the roads within Sunningwell Parish, how these compare with design standards and what that means for the appropriate use of these roads.

It is studying the traffic volume and speed data that already exists, as well as the traffic modelling predictions that have been carried out as part of the Lodge Hill interchange development. It is also considering the traffic and transport pressures that developments in adjacent areas such as Dalton Barracks will bring.

The Group is compiling questions to be included as part of a parishioner consultation early in January.
