Meeting summaries

22 January 2026

The Footpaths & Active Travel Working Group submitted its report to the January 22nd Steering Group meeting. This was very well received by all present. Minor modifications and additions were suggested, and these were completed prior to the Steering Group meeting of 5th February where approval for publication following proofreading was given. The Draft Consultation Report was subsequently published on the Sunningwell Parish Council website on 17 February 2026.

14 January 2026

The Footpaths & Active Travel Working Group met in Bayworth Chapel Hall on 14th January. In the weeks before the meeting, a narrative had been produced to go along with the Footpath Survey which was completed towards the end of last year.

This narrative, which took into account feedback from the presentation at the Steering Group meeting in December, was revised prior to the meeting, and then transferred into the same report-format being used by the other Working Groups, with the Survey (crudely) included as an Appendix.

At the Working Group meeting this overall approach was approved for the draft report. The suggested recommendations and thoughts on indicative Policy text were to be removed for the Consultation Draft, and the indicative footpath questions to pose to the parish separated into a separate document to be considered alongside the questions from other Working Groups.

It was agreed that these modifications could be completed in time to submit the draft report to the Steering Group by the 18th of January.

8 December 2025

The Footpaths & Active Travel Working Group met in the Bayworth Chapel Hall on 21st October, with a follow-up in the same location on 13th November 2025, and a further meeting scheduled for 8 December in Sunningwell Village Hall.

The first order of business for the Working Group was to agree the scope that the Working Group would cover and the agreed scope is shown above.

An inventory of all of the public rights of way within the parish has been prepared, which are in the process of being assessed (e.g. condition, amenities, scope for improvements etc.) supported by photographic evidence. The working group will also consider roadside pavements and commonly used footpaths that are not established rights of way.

The results to date from this will be presented at the Steering Group Meeting on 9th December, including the rights of way inventory, supported by an A0 annotated map, on which comments and feedback are invited.
