A parishioner has reported contracting Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick while walking along the footpaths in Sunningwell. Ticks are commonly found in grassy and wooded areas, and while most are harmless, some can carry Lyme disease.

To reduce the risk of tick bites, it is advisable to wear long trousers, keep to the centre of paths where possible, and check your skin (and pets) carefully after walking. Prompt removal of ticks can significantly lower the risk of illness.
