Our next film night at Sunningwell Village Hall will be on Saturday 19 October, when we will be showing the 1951 Ealing Comedy classic heist movie, The Lavender Hill Mob starring Alec Guiness and Stanley Holloway and featuring Sid James and a cameo by a young Audry Hepburn. As normal we will be raising money for St Leonard’s church, Sunningwell. There is no entry fee, but a voluntary donation of £5 is suggested.
For your diary, we have also set the date for the films we will show at the Sunningwell Village Hall for the remainder of 2024. These likewise will be raising money for St Leonard’s church, Sunningwell, and are as follows:
· 16 November: Rear Window, the 1954 Hitchcock thriller, staring James Stewart and Grace Kelly.
· 14 December: The Kid, the 1921 silent comedy written, produced, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin. This was Chaplin’s first full-length film as a director. It was a huge success and was the second-highest-grossing film in 1921, and is considered one of the greatest films of the silent era.
